So here is what i was working on trying to get it into the 11sec club but...you know how things just seem to get in the way....I will have to be strict on my self with Ianimate...lots of self discipline.

Hey guys in an ironic twist of events in my life I am now officially enrolled into a character animation school for the first time. I start May 2nd of 2011. My earlier (2007-2009) one on ones with Jason Ryan in his tutorial training through email were awesome. And my animation was taken to a whole new level...Now its time to really get busy and I have been accepted into Workshop 3 of Ianimate. Its funny because I was actually accepted to the first debut semester of Animation Mentor 3yrs ago and dropped out before it even started because of the pricing and requirements. However this time...there is no turning back...workshop is paid for...well atleast half paid for...lol!. All i need now is a headset. Its going to be awesome actually making friends in the same field that I am in. Before I was pretty much solo in animation while networking and getting connections here and there from people who inspired me. Another twist is it seems that not alot of people use JRs style...which is what Jason pretty much got me into back in 2007. So i basically animate my shot in 2d first and then take it to 3d so the principles are solved and there are no issues in CG performance as far as posing is concerned. So this excites me even more as i get to see different Ani-Fu (Animation Fu) styles and observe how others progress through their shots. I will post 2d/3d progression shots here but i think I heard somebody say that we are encouraged not to make our shots public...so I may just post Jpegs of Poses and story boards and 2d performances to stay true to laws of the Workshop. Hey guys just need to re address some weaknesess of my animation before jumping into my next one....I notice i had alot of invisible walls hit with trying to create snappiness i need to be careful Also my timing can be a little better...I always find that bouncing ball exercises and jump tests really free my mind to explore and get a better understanding on timing and spacing.

Wow I made the top 10!....something i have been trying to achieve since the 10 second club came out!!!! So Awesome!!! But gotta keep pushing forward to get 1st.

Ok so here is a blocking pass...at the shot after solving the perfomance.
Needs a little more work...think Ille tone down the head movement at "parents" just a bit...dont know maybe ille spline first and tone down there. I need to look at how it looks smoothed out.

I am happy with the simple background and the look the mr is giving it. Yay! Mental Ray!

Hey Guys here is the finalized last breath and another test I call cheeze wiz....really learned alot on this one....Lighting...getting rid of the those ridiculous black squares when rendering in mental ray, and using 2 Boris' in the same shot....i didnt use that here obviously but i did a test with this boris and another in the bg....also finally got to alter Boris into something else....as far as looks....I like the design i was able to come up with for the first time...although i did some experimenting with Commando this was one where i got to alter the body and color to make boris look like he is wearing clothes....cant wait to do some more....Mental ray lighting has definitely become my practice for background and rendering it makes my animation look nice and clean. Also gives it the presentation quality my mentor Jason Ryan holds very highly in demo reels. Not sure if anybody is following this...seeing i have only one follower...its cool though! its nice having a private diary of animation and learning for myself.

I call it Last Breath...poor Boris got shot in the chest...and blood is everywhere REDRUM,
Yeah my last shot Corrected had to get aborted do to file corruption and unorganization...oh well I learned alot...guess thats what counts.

Ok yeah so for this next project I have been putting in some extra hours on mental ray and lighting...and I must say the look of my work has never looked better.

here are a couple of tests inspired by some of my favorite artists and animation pieces.

One is "Jazz Bubbles" and the other is "Boris Face"!

Will put some more breakdowns in and move on to cg...im going to really make this one look nice so I will probably get the setting, render attibutes and lighting the way i like it first before really diggin into the animation.

Ok I just found out that my entry was 46 out of a 153. Not bad....but to me...not good either...I can do better than that...I will do better than that. I will not rest until my entry is number one...and even after that I will not rest.

So I started the new project today...called Corrected....I have always been a fan of horror books...one of my fav was the Shining...so i took a clip and found a setting...on Friday...when i was getting my haircut...and said to myself ahhh now there's a place where somebody could deliver some chilling dialogue...here is a rough thumb of the shot.

LOL I told you guys that I was accepted to AM...that was no lie, but financial issues where an issue at the time...lol...still are....but I was able to kinda follow along...one of the exercises that intrigued me was the ball obstacle course exercise.
Hmmm...i always have loved video games so I put the moving platform in just to give this little guy a challenge.

Introduction To Elliott Gibson II

Hmmm....wow where to start....hahaha....I'm not going to start off by telling you I love to animate...thats a given. I do however love being inspired by other animators. I love watching other animators work. I love watching their work when its completed. I started in 2000. Its 2010 and I have still not made it in yet. I 've seen others start with me who have made...im talkin back in the days when the 10 second club was hot stuff! Ive seen guys start after me make it. But I am driven by the passion I have for it....I gotta say animation mentor changed my life...No I'm not in the program, neither have I been in it...even though I was accepted in their first class back in 2005. I was about to give up on animation simply because I'm like OK its almost 6 yrs and I have yet to enter into the industry. But I crossed a student of AM who's blog directed me to Jason Ryan....and well yeah...i guess you can say his style made me reborn all over again...this was actually in 2007. J started coaching me through his course and now I am at the advanced stage in the course....it was tough because J made me go all the way back to the bouncing ball...wow! so now its 2010...and now 3 yrs later. I have hope and I am going forward in the journey again. But this time I have a mentor and I believe sooner or later I will make it in. Thanks guys for stopping by.
